When you browse our website, we do not place any cookies on your device. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or anything that tracks you around the internet. We only store something once you make a choice in our cookie banner, or once you log in.
This policy explains, in plain language, what actually happens on surflessons4you.com when you visit it — including the handful of outside services we rely on to run the site, show maps, and process payments. It applies to visitors and users in the EU, EEA, UK, the United States, and elsewhere.
We don’t set any cookies just because you open the website. The only cookies that come from us directly are the ones that keep you logged in (§8) and the one that remembers your cookie-banner choice (§9).
We use Google Maps to show where our partner schools and lesson meeting points are. When a page with a map opens, your browser contacts Google directly, and Google receives your IP address, browser information, and the address of the page you’re on. Google may process this data in the United States. No cookies are set on our own site through this.

Our website is delivered through Cloudflare, which speeds it up and protects it from attacks. Every request to our site passes through Cloudflare, so it processes your IP address and the page you asked for. Cloudflare also runs a small measurement script that counts visits and page speed — it sets no cookies and can’t recognise you later or on other websites.

When you book and pay, we hand you over to Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe’s own page — we never see or store your card number. Stripe receives your name, email, billing details, the amount, and your IP address, to process the payment and check for fraud, and sets its own cookies on its own pages. Schools receiving payouts give their identity and bank details directly to Stripe.

This only happens if you click “Continue with Google” — nothing is sent to Google before that. Once you click it, Google sets its own cookies on its sign-in page, and we receive your email address and Google account ID.

Account avatars are handled through Gravatar. An encrypted version of your email address, together with your IP address, is sent to it.

Logging in places a small number of strictly necessary cookies so the site remembers who you are while you use it. They are deleted when you log out or when they expire. Without them, booking a lesson or managing your account wouldn’t work.
On your first visit, we ask whether you want essential cookies only, or all cookies. We store your answer for one year. You can change it anytime via “Cookie Settings” in the footer.
Google, Cloudflare, Stripe and Automattic are US companies, or transfer some data to the US as part of running their service. Where that happens, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework as the legal safeguard for the transfer — all four providers are certified under one or both of these.
If you’re in the EU, EEA or UK, you can accept all cookies, reject everything non-essential, or customise your choice — through the cookie banner or “Cookie Settings” in the footer, at any time. You can also disable cookies completely in your browser settings, though the site won’t work properly without the essential ones.
If you’re in the United States, you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and request access to or deletion of your data, using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer. As explained above, we don’t run advertising or tracking cookies in the first place, so there’s nothing to opt out of on our own site — this mainly applies to data handled by the third-party services listed above.
We may update this Cookie Policy when our website changes, when the law changes, or when we start or stop using a service listed above. The latest version is always the one posted on this page.
